Still Building Community
Building and participating in communities in our industry has been a part of my life for a long time. I’ve been on a bit of a break, but frankly I couldn’t stay away forever. My current efforts have been focused on getting a new community spun up at SolidFire to serve our developers.
We have customers running PowerShell, Python, OpenStack, CloudStack, VMware, Java, C#, and more. The use cases are also varied, whether it’s delivering cloud services, Software-as-a-Service, Enterprise self-service, or simply running critical applications. The automation needs vary as well. As such, I felt it incredibly important to give our customers and partners an opportunity to engage with their peers and our engineers to get the most value from their investment in SolidFire.
Yesterday I announced that we have created a new developer community to provide location for people developing against the SolidFire’s API. In case you didn’t know, the incredible extensibility of SolidFire was the primary thing that drew me into the company. Having unlimited possibilities is something that excites me and our customers. Now we have a shared platform to engage and contribute our experiences.
You can check out the community and participate by going to http://developer.solidfire.com. You can see the work that we’re doing on GitHub at http://github.com/solidfire. If you’re a SolidFire customer, partner, or prospect I hope you take some time to share your inquiries and the work you’ve done.
We have also included a blog for this community. This blog will provide deeper technical explanations than what we might publish on the corporate blog. Over the coming months you’ll see blog posts from several SolidFire engineers providing knowledge and guidance on developing against SolidFire.
It’s exciting to work on building a new community. My role is also expanding slightly to have a stronger focus on developer advocacy. This focus will give me more opportunities to engage with customers and partners about their needs and accomplishments. The community is going to be a strong extension of those efforts.
I look forward to having you join us!
