2015 Call for Scores | Meet the Panelists
We’ve been working hard on selecting finalists for our 2015 Call for Scores! Let's meet the panelists on our selection committee:
Christopher Ciampoli is Symphony Number One’s Production Director and the coordinator for our Call for Scores. As a composer, Christopher writes for a wide range of ensembles, and he has collaborated with artists to create multi-disciplinary works with sculpture and performance art installations.
Nicholas Bentz, a rising composer and violinist, is Symphony Number One's Executive Director and concertmaster. As a composer, he has been commissioned by the Annual Robinson Jeffers Association Conference, SONAR New Music Ensemble, the College of Charleston Contemporary Music Ensemble, and the Charleston Symphony Orchestra.
Mark Fromm is our founding composer-in-residence. His Symphony No.1 was featured on our debut concert in May 2015, and he is returning as a panelist on our Call for Scores. Mark is a composer, teacher, and bassoon and saxophone player from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Stephen Czarkowski is in demand as a conductor, cellist and educator in the Washington D.C. area and nationally. He is in his fifth season as Music Director and Conductor of the Apollo Chamber Orchestra, and has collaborated with artists from the Metropolitan Opera and the Washington National Opera.
2nd Lieutenant Christy Muncey is enjoys a career conducting a variety of music ensembles. She currently serves as the Flight Commander with USAF Band of the West, and in March of 2014, Ms. Muncey traveled to Helsinki Finland to compete in the Nordic Wind Band Conducting competition where she was awarded 3rd place.
Jordan Smith, the Music Director of Symphony Number One, is a passionate performer of classical repertoire and contemporary genres, and he enjoys an appreciation for broadway, jazz, rock, and pop music. Jordan was the founder and Artistic Director of the Dallas Festival of Modern Music and serves as a cover conductor with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
