She curls up on the couch across from him, allowing herself to relax as they swap stories about the day. She knows she probably shouldn’t be here, that the more she allows herself to fall the worse this will be when it’s over.

But if she’s honest she doesn’t really care. Yes, when it ends it will hurt, her heart will be shattered much like when he’d walked into her life years before. But for the time in between her spirits are lifted, she laughs and smiles. And some tiny part of her believes in happy endings again.

And who knows…maybe things will turn out for the better this time. She’s willing to take that risk.
