Composite Creatures by Caroline Hardaker
This book was so bizarre. I can't say too much about it because then I'd be giving something away, I'm sure, but it's set in a future (but not-so-far-away future) dystopia, and the protagonist has some sort of creature that is controversial. Whatever the protagonist has done is something that divides the opinion of society, but the reader doesn't know outright what is going on, but can guess.
Although sci-fi isn't my favorite genre, Hardaker is a solid writer and the feeling of dread throughout the book made this one interesting throughout. I'd definitely read more from her.
