Since I’ve been trying to start a DA group based on such an idea, having a gijinka of my new computer is mandatory. Yes, he will canonically be in the same “family” as my previous one.
Yeah. I don’t think I actually posted about it on Tumblr yet, but I built something new a few months ago to replace my late-2012 Core i3 desktop.
It’s crazy by my standards, but I’ve still seen things more insane. This features an Intel Core i7-7700 (which is quite top of the line), a GTX 950 graphics card (it was transferred over from my old computer), and an SSD (basically flash storage. Everything boots and starts up very quickly. Some stuff, mainly games and bigger stuff, is on a normal hard drive).
RGB is a gimmick trend I’ve seen in a lot of computer hardware lately; the mere fact that you can have your keyboard, fan, and even the motherboard itself coordinate with your desktop theme is admittedly fun, but in moderation. I’ve seen people whose cases are filled with so much lighting that you might as well classify their computer room as a nightclub. The fan has a little controller (that little remote on the top of the case) that lets me toggle between different colors and animations. Some of it actually looks pretty cool (and its very bright).
Long story short, I like things that have style, but don’t overdo it; a lot of companies have actually moved away from the stereotypical “red and black and sharp edges means Gamer(TM)” design language lately, and focused more on balanced designs. This philosophy also influenced by choice of case; its unique, but still has a bit of edge to it. It also features a sliding glass panel on the front to hide my lack of DVD drive.
