A friendly reminder for my vaccinated peeps.
Early on in the pandemic I saw a lot of people talking about how wearing masks should be the norm like it is in some east Asian countries when it comes to flu season or when someone is ill.
But the problem is, all this talk of getting back to normal makes it so this isn't the norm. Hello! Just because you're protected doesn't mean everyone is. And technically you can still get covid, just not as life threatening.
WE 👏🏻 DON'T 👏🏻 WANT 👏🏻 TO 👏🏻 GO 👏🏻 BACK 👏🏻 TO 👏🏻 NORMAL 👏🏻.
Normal wasn't working. Normal wasn't about community health or protection. Normal was selfish, self centered thinking. If you're vaccinated, wear your mask when you are in crowded public places TO MAKE IT THE NORM. If you're vaccinated, don't complain about masking policies, instead focus on community health and protecting everyone. If you're vaccinated, still take precautions to protect your community because not everyone has been as lucky as you to get vaccinated.
The only way we can do better moving forward, is to make caring about others the norm. Not just in our words, but in our actions.
