The fact that Solidarity went full neoliberal when it took power is a fucking travesty
absolutely, and this is exactly what I've been reading about in the past few hours (as well as the events in Poland in 1968 which I hadn't known at all about). I had known very little about Solidarnosc in the past, but the mainstream representation of it always left me feeling a bit iffy, and now that I've been reading about it (and these are articles from the perspective of a socialist who was there from the very beginning) I've realised just how revolutionary and full of potential it was until Walesa and co. decided to drop a big one on the working class. And it's such a testament to how quickly things can change when one decade you had a class conscious movement and then a hotbed of conservatism and neo-liberalism in the decades after.
Flashy title but this is actually really interesting. Our misconceptions absolutely affect our political priorites, not just in our voting but also in the promises the politicians themselves make.

Halloween URL seller, I need your scariest URL
you can't handle my scariest URL traveler
4, 15, 19, 35, 46, 74, 78, 103, 108, 112, 119, 134?
4: 3 things I love
whatchuknowbouts
My kitten and my cat
My laptop
15: Favorite quote
I don't know if I have one, to be honest? There are a lot of quotes I like but I haven't ever made a proper list or decided on a favourite, ahha! When I go to uni I plan to do that cheesy thing of writing them all on post-it notes and making a collage of them on my wall.
19: What am I listening to right now?
There's a playlist we made when we went to Cardiff in March, and since I haven't seen Laura and James since then and I'm seeing them this Sunday at LFCC (I'll be cosplaying Mal from Firefly, come say hi if you see me guys!) I've been listening to that playlist a lot because nostalgia.
Current song playing is Code Monkey - Jonathon Coulton
35: Favorite holiday
Christmas! There's such a build up and everyone gets excited and I get to buy nice things for people and pick out gifts and stuff my face with food all day and it's SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE TO DO SO!
46: If I were drunk & can’t stand, who’s taking care of me?
I find it ironic that you're the one asking me this :P Haha, um I should hope whichever friend I'm with? I wouldn't get drunk with friends I didn't trust to take care of me so there's that.
74: Favorite animal?
Ooooh um, wolf or otter I think! I was always That Kid in primary school who was overly obsessed with wolves...!
78: How can you win my heart?
Chris, should I be concerned that you're asking me this?! Ha, um I don't really know to be honest. The main thing is mutual trust and respect, like... I can't underestimate how important that is to me. It varies depending on the person though really, you'd have to ask Martin!!
103: Am I a vegetarian/vegan?
HAHAHA You're a funny man, my friend!
108: Watched TV for 5 hours straight?
If you say you haven't then you're either a) lying or b) a stronger person than I.
112: Broken a bone?
Nope! Worst I've done is sprained my wrist.
119: Learned another language?
I got a B in GCSE German, does that count?! Haha. I've also started learning Italian on Duolingo because I just love to procrastinate.
134: What do I want for birthday?
For my 19th? Ack I don't know, that's like... 11 months away! Most likely money though, I'm boring :L
5, 8, 11, 12?
Bloody hell I literally never, never get asks from these posts ha.
5.) 3 things on my bucket list?
1. Babies 2. Live in at least one more foreign country 3. Get a dog
8.) What I am most looking forward to at the moment?
My current secret plan coming into fruition, New Year in New Zealand, doing the Dutch state exam, reaching peak health & fitness hopefully in the next 6~ months, completing a recent commission and getting paid actual real €€€s for it
11.) Who is the most influential person in my opinion?
In…what? The world? I feel like that person is probably heavily invested in us not knowing who they are.Either that or Rupert fucking Murdoch/the Koch brothers/etc.
12.) 3 random facts about myself?
1. I’m very tall 2. I had to explain in Dutch today how I once had my jaw dislocated and it was insanely hard 3. I really don’t get on well with almost all Classic literature.
