Summary: Alecto is a girl that is mostly known for her negative traits. She’s a chaotic individual, who rarely listens to anything that anyone tells her. She’s easily resentful, with it being easy for someone to get onto her bad side. And her bad side is really hard to get off of. She’s manipulative, and flirtatious, and she uses both to her advantage. She knows exactly how to get what she wants, and she isn’t afraid to do whatever it takes.
One would say that Alecto Carrow has no real positive traits. But she does. In some twisted sense of the world. She’s an ambitious and determined person, which mostly stems from growing up being not wanted, or planned. Her father never cared for her, and it made Alecto just desire to prove that he had been wrong about her. In actual fact, Alecto is determined to prove everyone that she is more than just a girl that was unwanted by her parents.
Not merely just a sum of the traits that people put on her, Alecto is a force to be reckoned with, and is a person that isn’t going to let anyone’s views of her change who she is. Mostly because she likes herself exactly as she is.
Alecto was never a wanted child, and she certainly wasn’t planned for. A surprise addition to the wanted male heir that the Carrows needed. Alecto was just an addition that her father did not want, nor need. Alecto was both a spare, and a girl. She would have been more frustrated with this, if it hadn’t been that technically Amycus had been born first, and thus was actually the heir.
But, Alecto found that she couldn’t actually be annoyed at Amycus. She might be unwanted by her parents, but she never felt that around Amycus. The twins were closer than anything. Alecto loves herself more than anything in this world, but Amycus came in a close second. There is literally nothing that she won’t do for her brother. Throughout their childhood, they came as a pair, and that continued well into adulthood.
Alecto just spent her childhood being a curator of chaos. She loved nothing more than creating chaos, and craziness. She sometimes involved herself, but on occasions she would watch from the side lines. However she planned it, Alecto loved being chaotic. Her mother tried to force her to be a good little pureblood girl, and dress up, and sew.
But Alecto hated that, even going as far as to ruin all her pretty dresses. She was mostly left to her own devices, with a father who didn’t really care, and a mother who did not know how to control her. Another thing that could not be controlled was Alecto’s magic. Even when she got to Hogwarts she was not the best at magic. Luckily, she learnt to control it a little more, but that was about it. She had some talent for potions, but she did not really care enough about her studies to benefit from the talent. Alecto found herself in detention more than anything else. But she kind of didn’t mind that.
Alecto left Hogwarts with not many qualifications. She spent more time getting in trouble thar she did concentrating on classes. But Alecto didn’t really need a job. Her family had money after all. Alecto used that money to buy a little bar in Knockturn Alley. She’d found during her Hogwarts days that she could mix a pretty killer cocktail, and so she used these skills to run a successful bar.
Alongside this, Alecto finds herself using her talent for manipulating. For what she lacks in her magical ability, she makes up in her ability to make anyone give or do whatever she wants. It was this specific talent of Alecto’s that caught the attention of the dark lord. She might not be the best fighter, but she has a mind, and a manipulating talent that can be as deadly as the killing curse. Alecto knows that sometimes simply threatening people with a wand doesn’t work, and for those times, she is there.
And Alecto quite liked being with the death eaters. The Carrow family had always believed in blood purity, and Alecto had always thought she was better than a lot of people in this world. But, the opportunity to cause chaos was something that Alecto would always take. She enjoyed being causing chaos, and just being present when things went to hell. She might not have been the best fighter, but she was useful. And boy did she make sure people knew that.
Alecto loved life though. If she wasn’t in the bar manipulating people into spending money, then she was off causing chaos for the Dark Lord. It was a good life.
Or it had been going well. Until Bellatrix Lestrange named her as a co-conspirator in the attacks on Frank and Alice Longbottom. Alecto was never one to actually not take credit for something that she was actually involved in. But the main problem she had here was she actually had nothing to do with the attacks. It was hilarious that Bellatrix had even considered Alecto to have the magical capabilities to participate in this dreadful attack. Torturing, whilst enjoyable, was not exactly Alecto’s branch of magic.
But still, she was arrested, and holed up into the Ministry. She’d thought it would be a night, a few days maximum. They’d ask her brother for an alibi, and once it had been cleared up, she’d be home. Because, the thing was, Alecto had actually been with Amycus that night. She’d been nowhere near the Longbottom’s, and for once, not actually causing any chaos.
It was a surprise to her when in fact the ministry did in fact not call upon Amycus at all. They didn’t strive to find out if Alecto was actually involved, even when she’d said that she’d been at her shared flat with Amycus all evening. Instead, the Ministry just believed Bellatrix, and Alecto was imprisoned in Azkaban indefinitely.
To say that Alecto is furious is an understatement. She really cannot recall being this mad at all previously in her life. To make matters worse, she is in a cell next to the very woman who put her here in the first place. And boy, has Bellatrix heard her complaining about it. Luckily the other witch does not have her wand, otherwise Alecto probably wouldn’t be around to bitch and moan about the situation.
Alecto is also furious at the Ministry. For an organisation that strives to seek justice, and treat people fairly, Alecto feels they have not treated her very fairly at all. And when she gets out of this cell she is going to seek revenge on everything that has done her wrong.
And it’s not an if she gets out.
Bellatrix Lestrange - Everything was okay between Alecto and Bellatrix up until the day they ended up in prison. Having been with Eleanora and Amycus the night of the attacks and not having participated has turned Bellatrix into an enemy.
Lilavati Greengrass - The two can play nice when in the public eye, having come across as the best of friends since their early years. It’s all a front with their hiding behind forced pleasantries and backhanded compliments.
Edgar Bones - Talk of a betrothal with Edgar was one that the Carrow and Bones parents played around with for a time. Sides being drawn for the war quickly brought conversation on the matter to an end. The two had several events spent on each other’s arm and were a little close for the sake of getting to know each other if things came down to posing as a happy couple.
