After slaving over this comic for ~2 years, I've decided I'm not gonna finish the last few pages I had planned and that this is fine enough. I'm simply too impatient to show it off. (Comics take me so fucking long, man)

This is a scene that takes place during chapter 3 of Terminal Status, although it's going to end up looking a bit different in the actual game. Still, I love this conversation and found myself wanting to draw it. (Spoilers: Post-Op and Concuss end up agreeing to fake-date after this, and it's sooo funny. They hate each other.)

I desperately wanted to do a Character Inspiration meme for Concuss, which became my motivation to finally redraw his profile art. (Does he look less like a twink now?)

Characters under cut:

Primary inspiration: whoever that one protagonist dude is from the shoujo manga "We Don't Know Love Yet." Concuss is basically a carbon copy of that guy except he looks completely different, and he's an adult, and he's a mech pilot, and he has OCD, and he's gay—

Writing inspiration: Haru from the visual novel "No, Thank You!!!". I only encountered this character years after creating Concuss, but I think he's definitely going to shape how I finally present this kind of protagonist and narrator.

Absolute Rancid Vibes: Sou Hiyori from "Your Turn To Die" (top), Kokichi Ouma from "Danganronpa V3" (bottom). These two are just goalposts for the type of character I was aiming for, or the type of fans I'm expecting him to have. Many mentally ill teens would list all three of them in the kinlist of their cardds.

Violence Man: Yura Beletsky from "Parties are for Losers." Similar category to the two characters above him, without the "mentally ill teens always kin them" infamy. A smiley, secretly intelligent guy with a hidden unhinged side.

Concuss fashion studies ✨

Inspired by today's daily question on UnVale, I have decided to ramble about the classes everyone in Terminal Status would have if they were in a D&D setting instead of on the HIPP0-CRAFT.

Terminal Status actually has something of a corollary to classes—the literal classes they take in the space academy, and the academic track they apply for in their third year. I'm going to be grouping them by those canon categories to better illustrate the patterns.

The Pilots

Viscera: just a straight up Fighter. She probably tried out Barbarian with Concuss when they were younger, but she didn't have the knack for it (despite the expectations of everyone in their hometown).

Concuss: Paladin, with a few levels in Barbarian that he doesn't tell anyone about. He is perhaps too devoted to his oath, which he also hasn't told anyone (but believes in so strongly, way too much, holy shit man calm down, wow you look really angry when you're smiting).

Intravenous: Fighter who everyone thinks is a Paladin due to their aesthetic. They don't have enough conviction for an oath, though.

Lacerae: Started as a Paladin, but he struggled with combat and only felt comfortable with his healing spells and blessings. This eventually led him to multiclassing into Cleric, which was oddly enough the impetus for strengthening his previously weak oath.

Medical Track

(A dream come true...if not for all the adventuring. She doesn't like needing to do things, and adventuring is doing things. She finds satisfaction in healing, though.)

Post-Op: Cleric, for obvious reasons. She finds immense comfort in how being a party healer justifies her desire to be taken care of: she's squishy! You need to protect her and not let her take damage! She's too important to come to harm, you should hide her in the back and devote yourself to her safety!

Mechanics Track

Vagus: Artificer. Please don't make him fight, he'd rather stay back and tinker. Yes he's buff, and yes he has a giant robotic fist he wears like a sleeve over his arm, but he'd really rather not fight. He'll make a cool robot to fight with you, okay? A cool robot to evade environmental hazards and traps, okay? Everything can be fixed with a cool robot and situational awareness.

(Ohhh but why does staying out of combat mean guarding Post-Op? This is so uncomfortable. He does not like her.)

ETC

Suture: Bard with SUCH a gift of gab. Rather than perform music, she spins stories to pull in wenches and embolden her party. Occasionally she says too much and gets chased around by very angry goblins, but she's tough. She can take it.
