1. Do you read fic? Do you write fic?
Yep. I’ve been reading them since I was 11...ish. I’ve also been writing them before I even knew what fanfiction was called.
2. Favorite genre of fic?
I...don’t really have one? I read from some of the series I read/watch/play and I don’t like one over the other. Just going off sheer numbers for the ones I’ve read the top are DragonFable, Kingdom Hearts, Yu-Gi-Oh GX, and Tales of Vesperia.
I don’t have one? I like a lot of pairings You can get me to ship anything if you can write an interesting story about them. Although I will admit that I usually search for fics about my favorite character or pair at the time I get into a fandom...which is hundreds by now.
Nightfoot. There is no describe how much they leave me clawing at my keyboard and how many people have to check on me when I’m reading their fanfics. Their zeal and experimentation is all that aspire to as a writer and can always commend the research and sheer volume when I read their work. I want so desperately to write fanfics of their favorites in praise to their writing but I am so daunted that I feel I need to hit the books in order to present anything to them.
6. Favorite fic (or one of them)?
I don’t know what I was expecting for this one when I started but my god it was worth reading all of it. I read it because Yuri is one of my favorite characters of all time and it was such a fantastic showing of him when he’s vulnerable and that for all his bravado he can feel fear, he can feel unworthy, and it was amazing to read that. I won’t spoil it because I do like a lot but there’s just so much angst and hurt/comfort that I was hooked for days.
I read both. I don’t have a preference amongst them. Me as a writer though, I usually do longfics but it’s not like I haven’t done one-shots.
Absolutely. It’s suspenseful but I don’t know, in some ways, I feel it’s sorta wrong to just wait until the end? I mean, everyone does what they will but I like reading an author’s labor...no matter what its status is.
9. What is the longest fic you’ve read?
I think that would have to go to The Golden Fox by Nyce456. By far one of the best Naruto fics that branch from the failure to retrieve Sasuke idea. It allowed Naruto to actually live up to his potential and be able to be amazing without having to stick to the original plan.
10. Favorite trope/element/scenario in fic?
Favorite Trope: A character having no choice via any reason you can think of.
Favorite Element: Plot, and to be honestly, it doesn’t even have to be intricate in order for it to be interesting to me so it’s usually easy.
Favorite Scenario: The good go bad or the ‘punching bag’ character leaves and is HAPPY.
11. Least favorite trope/element/scenario?
Least Favorite Trope: Don’t think I have one....?
Least Favorite Element: As a writer, it’s dialogue. I literally talk aloud to try and hear how sentences might be said and it’s embarrassing. I also hate writing it because apparently how I talk to friends and other people is not naturally how people talk?
Least Favorite Scenario: When a sibling tries so hard for their other sibling’s sake and the other just throws it back. They say that the hark-working one is selfish and they are in general abusive to towards that sibling. It drive me nuts. I can’t stand it. Main example I think of is Elphaba and Nessa.
12. What turns you away the most from a fic?
It’s a completely shallow reason but exceedingly bad spelling or works that based off the writing would be better served as play.
13. Has a fic ever made you cry?
It’s hard to think of a fic that hasn’t made me tear up.
14. What tropes/elements/scenarios get you the worst?
The character that puts on whatever front they have breaking from it. I also cry a lot when the character goes through berating that isn’t warranted. Even if I know it’s set up for their soon to be awesome lives, it hurts to read it. Aaaaaaand, maybe just futility of some situations between characters. Even if I know it’s misunderstanding or that there is something more going on, that doesn’t mean the characters know. And when they don’t and make some hard choices, it’s tough.
15. Do you mind when characters cry?
No? Why would that be a problem?
16. How do you feel about character death in fic?
YOU CAN’T HURT ME. I THRIVE OFF THE PAIN. Although that doesn’t mean I can’t have the look of shock and desolation on my face before the long chanting of why during it.
17. Any characters who you can't stand to see in pain?
One of them I really liked but I can’t remember the title was a Kingdom Hearts one where Sora had tried so desperately to allow Roxas and Namine to live on their own. That they deserved to be their own people. And this was actually at least 2 years before Dream Drop Distance gave this conversation.
19. Do you read porn or does it make you uncomfortable?
I do but it’s not really something I have to have.
Kinda have to in order to read any about certain kinks.
