He'd run out of money to go to the swimming baths and shower, so now he'd taken to more insalubrious methods of getting clean. The fountain seemed like a last resort as he stripped off his shirt and started shivering almost immediately with the cold. Now everyone could see how very very thin he was but it couldn't be helped.
