The Christmas Tree Cluster & Cone Nebula Last year I had a plan to post an image of this on Christmas day but I was thwarted by having Covid-19 for a month and a hospital stay the week of Christmas. I did eventually capture this target at the beginning of the year, but I wanted a slightly wider perspective over my 480mm. I captured it, along with the Rosette Nebula in March at 180mm, but that was a little too wide to get it how I wanted. Splitting the difference, he it is at 275mm. Cone Nebula - This photo includes the Cone Nebula, Christmas Tree Cluster and the Fox Fur Nebula. I'm slowly improving the shape and size of my stars. Thanks to the great help I've received from Alex Obrads I've been able to make some small improvements, but also discovered that one of the components of my telescope is not up to standard. When I can afford the $270 price tag, I'll be able to replace the coma corrector and hopefully finally get round stars from corner to corner. I also somehow made a mistake when setting up this shot, and the camera only recorded the images at 1/4 resolution. Christmas Tree Cluster & Cone Nebula This time taken with the Meade 80mm Triplet at 480mm, I was only able to get 1.5 hours of data last month before my laptop died. I am still working on solutions... plus the courage... to use the new laptop out in the really cold weather. The new laptop is not as rugged as my old one.
