Confederate Monument About to be Decommissioned, Fairfax County, Virginia, 2020.
The county commissioners have voted to remove this monument and the cannon next to it, fixtures on a corner where two major highways intersect. Standing in front of the old county courthouse, the monument is very close to sites where battles took place between the Confederate terrorists and Union Troops, and many of the more famous Union military and Confederate traitors passed by this site as control of Fairfax City and the courthouse was a major objective of both sides. Unlike most such monuments, this one does not include a statue.
