You have just swallowed your pride and done something you didn’t want to do. Your friend wants to know why. The two of you are driving around an almost-full parking garage looking for a space for the friend’s oversize pickup. Write the scene.

My pride has been preventing me from admitting my feelings for my best friend. He has seen me through all my ups and downs, but I never told I felt because I have always believed that he is the most arrogant, disorderly, impatient, and disrespectful jackass. But I am putting that aside and I am going to tell him how I feel; I am going to just spit the words out no matter what happens. Oh my god what if he laughs at me. Oh who am I kidding, he wouldn’t laugh; he would however think I was just feeding his ego. Okay I am totally overthinking this. Okay here it goes: 

“James!” I said. 

             James honked the horn and cursed at the woman who almost t-boned his pickup, “Dammit. You son of a bitch. There was a stop sign back there for a reason....Did you say something, Nattie?”

      I continued, “Yes I did. I was going to say...”

James said, “ Oh hey a spot opened up. Hold that thought.” James goes screaming into the spot and my opportunity to say I love you has passed me by.
