The thread on why Ash Costello is problematic made me reconsider how much I value this band whose famous because of the singer’s hairstyles and is kinda egocentric because everything is about red and black ambiance.

I hate admitting this out loud, but I think Nightwish peaked at Wacken 2013 and has been going downhill ever since.

Arch Enemy's new songs are okay but I've always felt like Alissa sounds really monotone in all the songs. Like, I've heard her with The Agonist and featured on songs with other bands and it's obvious she can do a lot more with her voice. Even their newest song that incorporates her clean vocals feels kind of weak. Plus they also have Jeff Loomis and I feel like they aren't doing much with his skills either. They are a fantastic live band and all super talented musicians but I just constantly feel as if something is missing whenever I listen to them.

While I understand the importance of riot grrl at the time, I just cannot get into it. I've tried, but the music just doesn't appeal to me. Also, it bugs me how people like to label every punk-leaning band with a woman in it as riot grrl. Like I said, I respect the movement, but don't identify with it personally, and I'm sure many other female musicians feel the same way, and it's pretty unfair to lump them all into one category just because of their gender.

TW: Abuse

I have heard Amy Lee’s collaboration with Bring Me The Horizon and as an Evanescence fan I am dissapointed that she is working with an abuser like Oli Sykes since he urinated and assaulted a female fan because she wouldn’t have sex with him in 2007 for what he went to court for and was oddly cleared of and his ex wife Hannah Pixie Snowdon accused him of cheating and then assaulting her during their abusive marriage. I find it hypocritical of Amy since she wrote a song about Shaun Morgan being abusive to her with “Lithium” and “Call Me When You’re Sober” and also “Going Under” is about similar themes.

I have heard “The Purge” by Within Temptation and I must say I do not likr the industrial direction that they are going in their music. I wish they would return to symphonic and gothic metal music as it was what I loved about them when I first heard “Ice Queen” all those years ago.
