International Confex 2012 - Yay!
Helen here – director of H2oh! Entertainment agency.
It’s been another busy week – not least of all because I made it ‘decision week’ for whether or not to take a stand at International Confex 2012 – plus the education team have been busy getting everything ready for our new education website.
H2oh! Entertainment started off exactly as it sounds – an entertainment agency, based in Brighton. We began specialising in circus and variety acts – and remain focused on this with a wonderful range of superb physical performers on our books. We fully understand the specific requirements for these acts, and can advise clients accordingly. However over the years we have also expanded to represent a range of musicians – from soloists to full bands – as well as dancers. Our artists are based all over the UK and work nationally and internationally.
However in 2005 we also decided to offer a range of workshops suitable for use in schools and other educational settings. Myself and Hannah Wheeler, who co-founded the agency, had both taught on and developed performing arts education programmes for other organisations, so it seemed only natural that we should do it for our own.
Today, H2oh! Education is thriving – we deliver everything from dance, drama and singing, to drumming, circus and stage make-up workshops, and our clients include schools, colleges and community groups. How we have managed up until now without a website dedicated to our education services I do not know (at present there is information on our workshops within the entertainment agency website, but no stand alone site). However we are about to put that right – look out for our new site from September, with full details on all the educational services we offer.
As for Confex 2012 – in some ways the matter was sealed when the lovely Katie Round from the sales team came down to Brighton to visit us a few weeks ago. She talked through the show’s move to Excel, as well as the options available to us in terms of possible stands. We’re delighted that we have taken the plunge this week and have confirmed our place at the show. We’re really looking forwards to working with Katie and the team in the run up to this major events industry trade show, which takes place in March next year.
This weekend we have artists busy up and down the country – from circus workshops in Cumbria through to walkabout acts and arts, crafts and face painting at Paddington Business Improvement District’s sports day in London. We just hope the rain holds…but if it doesn’t we’ll carry on regardless. H2oh artists are made of pretty strong stuff!
