It wasn’t exactly standard for Sam to be the one hosting the (ridiculously) often parties and sleepovers that the gang seemed to hold - her parents weren’t entirely happy with the thought of it, but she’d worn them down over the last few weeks especially. They’d left the teens to it, stormed off on a holiday for the weekend so they had the run of the house (just don’t let them break anything Samantha). It had been perfectly fine, they weren’t animals, just a little loud at times.
So they’d played stupid games and watched enough trashy movies to have even the boys groaning with how idiotic it was, until one by one they’d dropped off. She’d been all prepared to share one of the couches with someone - but every spot was taken by one sprawled out body or another - so her own bed it was. The others knew where to find her, if it was really that important.
Curled up tightly, duvet tucked in around her to keep away the slight chill of the house, Sam had all but fallen asleep when a faint creak caught her attention - followed rather quickly by a scuffle of feet and a dip in the bed behind her. Panic swelled for a brief second before she heard Jess’ small voice whisper her name, (the boys are snoring Sam how can I get my beauty sleep with that racket?). It’s barely any effort to let more of the duvet go, let the other blonde bury under the covers with her.
It’s a brief flash of chill again, but then Jess is under and it’s warm again and Sam just shuffles closer. They’re close enough now, have been for years really, that it’s nothing for her to wrap an arm around the soft bundle of Jess and cuddle down close. Blonde hair tickles her nose, but a small shift and it’s gone and they’re soon curled around each other - limbs everywhere and half-asleep once more. It’s comfortable, really, and far more comforting than sleeping alone though Sam would never admit it. Jess’ head is tucked under her chin, and her breaths are small and short - asleep already. It’s only a few more seconds, before Sam too is slipping her eyes closed and falling under the pull of sleep.
