Congo is arguably the place that most shaped african modern music. Largely because they took to Cuban music very early and from mimicking its sonics created their own guitar driven harmonic Cuban music thats still percussively innovative but in a way thats almost unrecognizable from the Cuban music they where initially attempting to recreate. O.K Jazz are pretty much the band that most shapes this sound. A band that cut its teeth playing clubs in Kinshasa and all over East, Central and Southern africa.
