It's amazing how fast a good and productive day can turn shitty

Before I left for vacation, my friend Jackie told me she was doing The Sound of Music over the summer and asked if I wanted to try out. I really wanted to but I didn't have any time to audition before I left so I figured whatever I just wouldn't.

When I told her that, she said that I was already being considered for Captain Von Trapp anyway (because her dad was part of the production team) so I should really just send them something. So I took the time over my vacation to practice and sing and monologue. This was all in my relatives' house. I hate singing around relatives. 

So I sent it in along with an informal resume and waited. Jackie got back to me saying I wouldn't be Von Trapp but they wanted me for the family friend; Max Detweiler. It wasn't what I wanted but it wasn't bad so I said ok, I'd take it. That was the last I heard. I've been waiting now for almost a month to get notification about getting my script (there are only two weeks of rehearsal so we had to be off book before we got there). I finally got fed up and asked.

Apparently, at the last second, someone who said they wouldn't do it decided to do it and they took my place. Jackie didn't want to be the one to have to tell me so she asked her dad to since he was part of it (but he didn't make the decision). Her dad never did. So she just left me a voicemail explaining that I'm not even in the show.

Well that's fun. It's a good thing my dad wasn't really proud and telling everyone he knew about it. Fuck.
