Congratulations or Commiserations? || Marlee & Rowan || Infirmary
The Obstacle Course had been a farce. A ruse to bribe tributes into putting their lives and health on the line for a measly prize at the end of the rainbow. I wasn't going to play their game for the chance of a silly reward that would be of no use to me when I was dead. So I'd sat idly by while my fellow tributes tripped over themselves fighting for a chance at glory. It was an insight into what the arena would hold in a few days, what I could expect from people who would quickly become my enemy.
I'd heard the announcement ring around the training centre as they picked up the tributes who had sustained grievous bodily harm. I'd looked around for Marlee after seeing her up there I expected her to be milling around celebrating her victory in silence but she was nowhere to be seen. After asking Felix, I headed down to the infirmary where Marlee was propped up looking a little worse for wear on a bed. She looked tiny and I offered her a small smile as I stepped inside the room. "Hey kid, you did great out there."
