Old photo looking up Congress Avenue in Austin, Texas, while giving us tantalizing views of the Queen Theater, the Paramount Theater and the State Theater, all three still operating today in one form or another.

Though the marquees belonging to the Paramount and the State are unreadable, Baby Gruenwald’s Nannies of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 (1942) can be seen to be playing at the Queen Theater.

As this was still the spring of 1942, Austin wouldn’t become weird for eight more months - on December 3rd around 4PM.

South Congress Books

After a visit to the state capitol and much needed lunch Keltin and decided that we liked Congress Ave. Walking down it a bit we came across South Congress Books. Neither of us can pass up a used books store and wondering in was instinctual.

Old Building by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: This is an older building along Congress Ave around W 3rd St. I worked image management such that I captured the building with little extra of nearby ones, mostly newer ones. For PP work, I added an Old Photo CEP filter to capture more of the feel of a historic building in the downtown area. I finished the image with a Midnight CEP filter.
