Moira prioritizes intelligence for those she'll consider as her "equals" or people she deems worth her time and energy investments. She's one of those academics who will snub you if she deems you of being incapable of being able to keep up.

#conjecture;#i don't think this has to be said because tbh i feel as though this pours out of her in her general demeanor #i should probably just include this in her bio but i don't remember what i put in there because. i'm never on here #i wanted to make a meta but i don't care to make a full organized post about it but #i went out to dinner the other night and in the general yapping i brought up the lack of social skills and the general pompous airs #of academics and people who've made it into their field by just putting all their priority in studying and not developing #general socialization skills because of that --#i don't believe moira lacks social convention however i just think she doesn't care for people she deems beneath her #i think intelligence is one of those things that she uses to separate herself from the 'masses' and it's an idea of 'power'#some people use this to avoid having to really Talk to people or learn to connect w them - to avoid risking ridicule or rejection #and i do think these are elements that would have kept her from being 'bullied' as a child for all the things she possesses that would've #traditionally invited that behavior. You don't get bullied when you exude an air of intensity/intimidation and condescend on others for #their lack of culture and intelligence. I think if you tried - she would have torn you down verbally or simply outlined your demise #re: the way she dismisses and threatens reinhardt's threats about how he ought to tear her down for what she's done #and it all falls back to this idea of Respect and Power being tied to this #i also think girl was also highkey that one story of oppenheimer when he fucking injected poison into an apple for his lab prof being a dic #there was a story in the earlier seasons of housemd where he describes a story about a man who was at the bottom rung of society--#an “untouchable” and was a janitor -- but he was the only one who know how to fix this kid that was dying and everything #became obsolete because saving this kid's life was the only thing that mattered and so they had to listen to him despite #anyway because of her relationship w the idea of intelligence i do think she genuinely respects siebren and his brilliance and #finds his shattered mind truly unfortunate and i do think she's genuine when she sneers at sombra abt wanting to 'help [her] little friend'#idk how much i've already written of this before because this blog is a mess but ik at some pt i did want to write something #about her relationship w 'intelligence' as stupid as that sounds

on that note, despite sunday passing, i do want to divot a little idea here; consider: her palms pressed intimately to the sides of your face, fingers dragging nails oh-so-gently down as she cup your throat and utilizes both to contribute little bouts of pain and little bouts of healing

moira's 'powers' is, in essence, biotechnology stitched into her. there are cybernetic implants installed upon her head to allow her ease of control to when to activate and when to shut off certain functions. the tubing that wraps from the hardware on her back into her arms utilizes pre-existing arterial structures, hence the 'veiny' look that we see on her purpled arm where the path of the biotic energy can be observed (and also thus the eventual decay as repetitive use occurs).

the backpack along with external tubing can be easily removed without much fanfare. shutting the hardware off is as simple as 'thinking' it, and can thus be disengaged after this thought. its primary function serves to create a 'vacuum' force that allows moira to take in biotic energy and thus convert it into energy that can be used to heal. its secondary function is, then, to act as a vessel to hold these energies until she can utilize them.

the orbs are self-explanatory 'condensed' versions of these functions. whatever this biotic energy is that she utilizes, it naturally carries a 'floating' property, 'elastic' enough to bounce off of walls. i like to think of them being condensed in a way similar to spider eggs are stitched together by the nanotechnology threaded through her palms.

#conjecture;#due to the way that the technology is installed in her there's no 'reversing' which sides she can use the death ray vs the heal ray #i do think she utilized her experimentations to allow her to install these components; e.i. expanding arterial circumferences #as for why the technology is installed within her and not externally - given how bulky-looking some of the components already are #so why not just keep everything external to avoid the very obvious defective side effects -#i'd rationalize it up to the cybernetic implantations #the hard installation prevents any external interference . something something military security #and despite everything that i just said abt the side effects; the efficiency in utilizing pre-existing structures also allows efficiency in #weight load; allowing her 'fade' to be more effective than without #sdklfs i'll figure out how to write up how that works one of these days but this is the conjecture for this for now

she will always have a fondness for insects; their quick turn-around and their status as an animal in the world of experimentation ethics allowed much room for maneuverability in lab work. they will always be regarded with a nostalgic sentimentality, a reminder of humble beginnings.
