Couldn't get enough of the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction earlier this month, with an always spectacular shot of the Moon. The best view we'll ever see of the two gas giants in several lifetimes, the telescope itself (if not this unfocused camera pic) provided a detailed view of Saturn's rings and Jupiter's Galilean moons, despite the satellites being 88,41,23,415 mi. away! Entering this new year, my only hope is that we focus on the science and solutions to help each other get through this pandemic that has overtaken our planet. Our only planet. In this amazing era of knowledge, discovery, and scientific capability, it's still hard to believe humankind could allow a virus to overtake the world, yet here we are. But the brilliance we're seeing in real time to beat COVID-19, all within one calendar year, is as astonishing as the shock of its ruthless march to all corners of the world 10 months ago. It's with that sense of hope that I wish all of you out there the safest and healthiest New Year possible, and then appeal to our better angels to work together to strangle this pandemic into the history books. #HappyNewYear2021 #Conjunction2020 #Jupiter #Saturn #TheMoon #astronomy #HNY21 #GalileanMoons #space #planets https://www.instagram.com/p/CJfH06CgtOz/?igshid=1do5e4wl90ul5
