I need your help, I struggle so much trying to connect scenes for example right now my main character is in the club something happens and this random dude gets her out of the situations and she ends up waking up in his house, but I don't know how to develop the whole situation
Connecting scenes can be incredibly hard in a story. For most people, myself included, it’s easy to think of how a story should begin and end, but much harder to think of what should go in the middle and make sure each scene flows smoothly. First you’re going to want to think of how your main character is going to react to this situation. Sure, this random dude saved her, but she knows nothing about him and is waking up in a strange place. Does she act surprised? Scared? Defensive? Angry? This random dude is also going to need a reason for specifically bringing her to his house. As heroic as his action is, most people who helped others out of rough situations would probably take them to a hospital, police station, or somewhere they felt safe, like their own home. How does this fit into the larger plot of your story? If this is how your story begins, it needs to have some significance for the rest of your story. If the “random dude” isn’t so random and was specifically looking for the main girl, explaining his actions and why he was looking for her could inspire her to join him for the following part of your story. If the dude needs her for something, maybe to help him achieve his own goal or help someone he knows, then he needs to find a way to get her to help, whether it be by asking her or forcing her.I think the main thing you need to focus on for this scene is on both characters’ reactions to each other, and what they need from each other.~ Carolyn (@theories-fans-andwombats)
