A-T-2 250 King Sporty

Noel Williams (King Sporty) is an interesting guy who should get more recognition as a songwriter and producer. He learnt his craft at Studio One, Jamaica under the tutelage of Clement "Coxsone" Dodd. He co-wrote Buffalo Soldier which Bob Marley made his own. Williams moved to Miami in the early 1970s and over a period of time transitioned from reggae productions to disco and funk. He ran two labels Konduko and Tashamba whose catalogue Emotional Rescue have been reissuing. From 1985 until his death he was married to the the soul singer Betty Wright, who is probably best known for the much sampled "Clean Up Woman."

Connie Case - Get Down. Williams first recorded Get On Down in 1979 under the name King Sporty, that version is straight up disco fire

J Griffin - No Wonder. No Wonder first appeared on the b side to Rock Attack, it's a dub version of Rock Attack. It then turns up on the King Sporty and The Ex Tras album Extra Funky. This one doesn't appear on Extra Funky and is released as Noel Williams. Shoot It From The Hip is a lovely bit of boogie made with Bobby Caldwell.
