I really want to like Connor and Kiara together, but they seem too different
Hmm, maybe. But who knows? Opposites attract sometimes, after all, and the two of them might compliment each other. I’m just glad to see the two of them are happy at the moment!
Connor and Kiara or Connor and Carter? Which do you prefer?
Connor and Kiara.

Have you guys heard the huge argument coming from the clark residence?? Seems somethigs never change with siblings.
“Seems like they were arguing over another Twin Oaks resident too. I’m sure siblings fight all the time though, no?”

Connor Clark // 27 // Cardiothoracic Surgeon And Doctor // White Oak
Meet Connor Clark: Cardiothoracic Surgeon and Father of the Year.
What brought you to Chicago/Twin Oaks? Honestly, it was the first place I could find. The move home was sort of impulsive but it also wasn’t. I knew in the back of my mind that I wanted Nathan to grow up around my family and I also had several job offers up in the air. I took one and they needed me to move immediately. Twin Oaks was recommended to me through a friend and they had open apartments, so yeah.
What are your favorite places in Chicago? I know the Navy Pier is a pretty basic answer, but that’s one of them. I love Union Station because it’s a piece of history and it’s also really cool to look at. I used to go there with my aunt when I was younger.
Nathan isn’t your biological son; what’s the story there? I met him when he was two months old. I was just starting out at a teaching hospital and the attending I was working under was an oncologist who was working his case. Nathan was a cancer patient. From the moment I first met him I felt like I had a special bond to him, but I never quite knew how to explain it. So during all of my free time, I would take care of him. Even though he wasn’t my patient. His birth parents were never around. They were really young and it was almost like they couldn’t handle it. Yet there I was, not much younger than them, taking care of him. He was in and out of the hospital most of his life. Of course there were times I didn’t see him because he had gone home. But as soon as he got sick again I was always there.
When he was almost six years old I had just moved hospitals and I actually got a call that his parents put him up for adoption. They had just completely given up on taking care of him. So that day I flew back to San Diego and started the process to adopt him. I sat him down and asked him if it was something he’d be okay with, being my son, and he said yes. I knew from that moment I saw him for the first time when he was two months old that he was my son. You just know, I can’t explain it. Now it’s legally official. And my little sister Stacie is actually adopted, so seeing what having a good family did for her really encouraged me to go through with it.
What is one piece of advice you would give your younger self? Oh God. I don’t know. I think I would tell my younger self to stop thinking everything is the end of the world. That as you get older things are going to calm down and everything that happened is going to make sense. Also that making mistakes is okay. Even huge mistakes, you’re going to learn from them. It’s going to make you who you are. Screwing up doesn’t make you useless.
Are there any life lessons you’ve learnt since moving here? Moving back home was bittersweet. I think I’ve learned that life is too short to fight all the time. My brother and I used to just not speak at all, but since I’ve moved home we’ve started to talk again. I had a really good relationship with my uncle, so I want Nathan to have the same thing, you know? My relationship with my family has always been a mess…but as you get older you realize that some things can be moved on from.
What sparked your interest in medicine? Well if you don’t know who my dad is, he’s Xavier Clark. The defense attorney. So growing up he always told me that I would go into the family business of law like he did, but I knew that I didn’t want to. I’m more of a hands on person. I don’t talk about it much, but when I was fourteen I lost my aunt. I was really close to her, and I just remember thinking that I wished there was something I could’ve done to save her. That developed into me wanting to be able to save people around me, and that developed into my love of medicine. I knew I wanted to be a surgeon. I got into Harvard but I decided that was too close to home. My dad went there, my uncle went there…I wanted my career to be completely my own. So I applied to a teaching hospital in San Diego and got accepted. Which I know now was meant to be, since that’s how I met Nathan.
What’s your favorite thing about Twin Oaks? Being able to live with my sister. I know that we could’ve easily gotten a house together, but I like having an apartment. I’m not a very social person, so the other people definitely isn’t my favorite thing. I also like how different it is from all of the other apartment buildings I’ve lived in. None of them ever had anything to do besides a pool. So Twin Oaks is definitely more interesting for Nathan, which helps me out.
