born on the twentieth day of the seventh moon in the year 275 after conquest, alys mormont was the last child to grace the ruling couple of bear island. even as a child, she never displayed the same fierceness that house mormont was known for yet still found a way to hold her own. muscles did not appear nor did the impressive strength those around them seemed to possess, leading to insecurities about their stature and where they lack in battle. some lords were cruel in their victories and they managed to make alys' confidence waver, wondering if she could ever be a historic knight or warrior one day. they have always dreamed of looking different and shedding many of their feminine features but are proud of their identity. as alys got older, she learned how to turn her appearance into a likely opportunity to be underestimated - which sometimes works in her favor.

while she can bite if provoked ( do not poke the bear vibes ), there isn't much bark to alys. her idealism can be faulty when harsh reality rolls in, but she's always dreaming of being the best version of herself she can be. her heart has always belonged with the north, raised on stories of heroic northerners and the honor of what that meant. alys was thankful the women of house mormont were not forced to partake in ladylike hobbies as they had never been good at them. their talents remained in being one of the faster children, off in a blink and always on the move. curiosity helped propel them and they were always interested in learning what others were doing.

though bear island was home, there became a feeling of suffocation the longer alys stayed. they loved to travel and explore, seeing the beauty of the north, feeling as if there was nothing for them on bear island. family means a great deal to them but alys has always been driven by purpose, their purpose becoming duty as they got older. in her teens, she was a squire for a northern lord, collecting achievements such as winning horse races, foot races, duels, and never failing to be there when they were needed. knighthood has always been a dream and they still seek it now, even if plans have changed quite a bit. if there is anything to be learned from being a mormont, it is that anything is possible.

for the past year, alys has been working in the service of house stark as a guard in winterfell. after an incident while traveling, alys decided to stay within familiar surroundings for a while and after spending a bit of time in winterfell, they figured that working for house stark would be quite the honor. she spends most of her days training in the yard and up top the winterfell towers, though occasionally does errands for the house as she is now as trusted as the others. there are talks of them becoming a sworn sword for someone, as alys has become a favorable companion, though they would go wherever they're instructed.

anyone who knows alys knows they will always lend a helping hand. sometimes they will go above and beyond to do the right thing even if it is at the cost of their own happiness. an extrovert 100% yet needs quiet time after a while. loves to joke around and find the good side of every situation, much to the annoyance of those around her. has absolutely no interest in politics or anything really going on in westeros and kind of prefers that the trifecta is thriving in their own lil bubble. just wants to do good and honorable things.

before she had turned double digits, alys had been gifted not toys nor dolls but a custom dagger with her house's sigil burned into the handle. it is their most prized possession and alys never goes anywhere without it. she keeps it hidden in her boot most often, yet sometimes has the dagger on her belt along with her sword.

is incredibly sentimental with trinkets and gifts. alys has never discarded a gift and keeps many trinkets in both their bedchambers and on their person. one is a piece of wood that has been whittled into a bear standing up and roaring - which reminds her of house mormont's words every time she looks at the object. they keep a coin purse full of differently colored stones tied to their belt and twice now someone has tried to steal it thinking it's full of coins... both times they've opened the contents to only throw the pouch back at alys with cruel words.

can do cartwheels and back flips but will probably only say yes if she's a little drunk.

Biography: -

tl;dr - as the heir he always felt a heavy responsibility to his house and the people that depended on them so his time was spent learning and honing his skills. Intelligent and observant, he's been able to make countless plans and deals to better his house. More recently he has been considering an advantageous betrothal to help give his house more influence and stability. Eyes are always open for his next ally, never betraying those who he has already sworn to but also not letting emotions blind him when it comes to alliances and connections.

The eldest of Lorent Lannister's boys he title of heir of Lannisport fell to him and along with it he took up the mantle of bringing more greatness to their name. As he grew older it seemed as though he would have little trouble in doing this, excelling at everything that was placed in front of him. His father had ensured that although his sons would grow up motherless for the most part they would have a wealth of resources at their fingertips which made it all too easy for Tybolt’s quick, eager mind to pick up whatever he turned his attention to next.

At nineteen the golden boy of the family went off to fight in the Greyjoy rebellion keen to add more glory to his house and prove that the Lannister of Lannisport had teeth and claws as sharp as those of Casterly Rock.

The injury that he had received to his side and it’s implications hardly seemed to matter when he had always considered his mind to be of far more value than whatever strength his body had.

Pride was taken in his city and how it continued to flourish as his father slowly loosened his grip on the reins so that he could take over. ( the city watch a particular jewel in his crown when some had told him his men were far better trained than those in King's Landing ) His desire to see Lannisport and its people remain strong meant that he was never shy of forming alliances and forming friendships to increase trade and stability.

Years passed with continuing to hone his skills, putting into practise those years of shadowing his father as well as branching out on his own when it came to politics and relations. But what he was almost unprepared for was the death of his father when he was thirty-one. Almost but not quite. Grief didn't cripple him when he knew the best way to honour his father was by continuing and expanding his legacy.

For all they were his 'cousins' the lions of the rock had never had his unwavering loyalty. The Westerlands itself lays claims to that and while he is happy to side with those who share his name as long as it suits his goals, nothing would stop him looking elsewhere if needed.

He has never been drawn to music when all of his attention in his youth was directed to other pursuits he deemed more useful. v. biography.

only two years old when the targaryens were shipped off to essos, aerys remembers nothing of westeros. when they first departed he could remember slight details - silver hair, those purple eyes - but in present time, all he has is what he's been told by others. he became obsessed with it in his youth for a time, wanting to learn every bit of information about the entirety of house targaryen before their demise. the history of ancient valyria became a fascination and though information never came easily, he didn't let them stop him for seeking out whatever possible. not only did he feel like he needed to know about his family, but he promised himself and his siblings they would not repeat the same mistakes that got them sent away in the first place. when they would return, he would be ready.

this is not the life they were supposed to have. the siblings should have known the red keep like the back of their hands as they grew up, surrounded by family alike in a home that kept them safe. instead, aerys looks at their time in essos as a necessary evil, something he despised but did not count out the opportunity it gave them to rebuild whatever was left. though never without an attitude, he found comfort in being able to trust his siblings and bond with them. if not for them, he knows he would have never made it out of essos and back to the home they should never have had to leave.

all he can think about now is how to make matthos baratheon and every single person who had a hand in the targaryen demise pay. he has found an obsession with history and aims to learn as much as he can with their time in riverrun, aiming to become the version of himself that can help his siblings take down any house that dares to threaten their survival. when their eggs hatched, something he believed never to happen, it lit a spark within aerys - a hope that they can return to their former glory. he doesn't care much for the glory, though, he just wants his revenge.

alliances - though not someone to work well with others beside his siblings, and he would absolutely turn on them in a heartbeat if it meant progress for house targaryen, aerys knows how important supporters are in their effort to gain back the throne. aerys is typically a good judge of character - or rather, is good at spotting those who seem like strong supporters versus weak cowards. perhaps he's just really judgy and has to see something beneficial.

once a lordling known for his beautiful voice, ronnet caron settled into the role of ruling lord and all the beauty he carried vanishing, reveal of his unkindness shining through even towards his own wife, whose only sin had been the inability to carry a child to term. fueled by spite more than the need to raise children, he sought out women whom he had dalliances with and put word that he would take in their bastards born from him.

three would be brought to nightsong — roy was the first. born to a lady's maid that was made to live under the roof of her mistress despite the betrayal enacted by them, maris did not last long. roy grew by himself, knowing to keep only to himself and out of both stepmother and father's way, until the second bastard would arrive. renyse would akin herself to a moon, but roy found her light to be one he very much needed. together, they yet took care of the third bastard brought to nightsong.

that was until matthos baratheon's war was won, and opportunity arose for kids of the stormlands to follow their liege to king's landing. roy half volunteered, half was offered by ronnet to be sent as a squire — a knighthood would serve to at least give him a prospect better than just the bastard of nightsong, whose father held little interest on after the affront was made. while he may have thought of the possibility of joining the kingsguard or the city watch when he'd become of age, the king instead took him under his wing, favoring the boy above most of the others. under matthos' guidance, he grew bold, strong and capable, seeing in the king a father he had never had; the sentiment would become one of the pinnacles of his life from then on, and his loyalty would belong to matthos above all.

when the greyjoy rebellion came, both roy, just entering adulthood, and his father, graying and bitter, joined the war efforts for the stormlands. while roy prevailed, finding his calling on the battlefield, his father fell; he'd be sent to nightsong with an infection that would be fatal, nothing to be done. nothing but to sign papers for legitimacy for roy and his two half-sisters, who would rise to the position of actual nobility and granted the opportunity to mingle, take official positions and marry just as well as any noble born.

roy's marriage, however, would only come to happen for necessity, from the ruined coffers of nightsong, left ravaged by war and his father's spending. from his wealthy, high-born bride, he found harmony, a competent ruling lady, and a mother to three of his children — would be four, had she not been taken by illness before the babe was to come. the offer of another marriage was refused, and, instead, the king saw to give him distraction in the form of a new position: the head of the city watch from king's landing.

for a good while, it was a good distraction but, unfortunately, it also exposes him to the worst of mathos' reign — attempted briberies, people stealing so they will not starve and getting punished for it, watching the lannisters taking over the city, even within his own men's ranks. though his position has grown to be enviable enough that people only refer to him as the bastard out of jealousy rather than disdain, he has begun to wonder if it is best to continue to remain blissfully ignorant and loyal to his liege or speak and suffer the consequences for it.

OVERVIEW.

ONE   .      calon greyjoy, the youngest of the lord reaper's brood, comes screaming and bloody into the world. there is no wild storm brewing among the sea; simply a spot of rain— some old wives tale would claim this means good luck. while the boy would know some in his life, he'd know little when it mattered most. TWO   .     he is raised to be true ironborn as he should. that one must pay the iron price for all that they own and that one day he'd prove himself worth to dine in the watery halls of the drowned god; but only if he was to die at sea as his people were bound to do to know peace in the end. a young calon, only a boy at the time, dreams of captaining his own ship. maybe even becoming lord captain of the iron fleet one day. THREE   .     time  spent  in  the rocky shores of pyke  give  him  a  reputation.   as  a  child,  he  is  a  little  terror and too often getting up to no good simply because he can. as  he  grows,  it  gets  no  better.  for  the  boy  just  gets  more  clever  with  time.  a  relentless  little charmer,  it  is  not  unheard  of  for  the  young  lord  to  use  his  words  to  get  out  of  a  sticky  situation and if all else fails, resort to the axe. for he is taught how to wield it well whilst he learns aboard the ships of his father's bannermen what it means to to sail and fight with the sea breeze guiding your way. FIVE   .     the years pass. time doesn't heal all wounds; scarred tissue takes their place. but he does feel less like a bird being held in a gilded cage. it takes time, ( and a stern talking to by the warden of the north ) but he comes to care for the starks and winterfell in his own way, even valuing the guidance of lord rickard when it was given. and he bonds with the stark siblings; having been raised beside them. still, there is always a calling for the sea lurking deep within; growing stronger as he gets older, wondering when the wolves will allow him to return to pyke. SIX   .     there was little room for love. the young kraken was bound to one day marry another ironborn once he was able to return home. and yet love found him in lynara stark— someone he knew was both entirely out of his grasp and one of the last people he should ever want. the feelings were shoved down and pushed to the side; he sought out the companionship of others. but ultimately, when it became clear that his affections were returned, he had little desire to continue fighting it. the years spent sneaking around winterfell with one another would eventually result in the idea to marry, equally in secret— an idea he knew wasn't wise. but he wasn't about to watch her marry a baratheon.

BIOGRAPHY: -

tl;dr - the weight of the future of the north and house stark weighs heavily upon him. he feels the responsibility keenly and his cautious nature makes him reluctant to break from tradition. losing his aunt, uncle and grandfather has made him hesitant of going south and he cannot help but believe that nothing good happens to a northerner who goes south. soft and something of a pushover with his family, the same way that his direwolf is, but that doesn't mean everyone is afforded the same grace. in everything he does ned tries to embody the north that he will one day lead, he stands for the honour and pride of its people but can also be as hard and cold as its ice.

with all the hours he played at shadowing his father it was inevitable that he would take on some of rickard stark's traits. but it was more than just imitation and following his father's lead, ned truly was his father's son. the importance of tradition was impressed upon him and the first time he watched his father swing a sword over his head in the name of justice, he knew that he wanted to be able to uphold their laws with the same tenacity.

the deaths of his aunt, uncle and grandfather would always hang over him. he was eight years old when events begun to unfold and remembers it vividly. how they'd gone south while he'd stayed behind and not returned. how winterfell would never echo with his aunt's laughter, how his uncle would never tease him about his form when they sparred and how any wisdom his grandfather might have had for him would be forever lost.

their absence was felt keenly and so he found himself clinging more tightly to his siblings, showing that he was his mother's son too with how often he embodied her house's motto of family, duty, honour. they became his tenants to live by as he grew older, having lost family members so young he wanted nothing more than to keep those he had left as close to him as possible. he held his siblings close, always thawing him out before he could let himself get too cold.

whether he would have always been an old soul or that was a fate inflicted upon him by grief is a question that will never be answered. but ned tended to be on the serious side growing up, shunning some types of fun in the name of honour. the only ones who could successfully get him to bend the rigid bars he restrained himself with were his family but mostly calon greyjoy, once he'd convinced the ironborn to warm up to him.

duty came for him later in life when the betrothal that had been a certainty for so long finally became inevitable. he had been determined to be a good husband no matter what he felt for his bride to be but when he met talisa it was almost love at first sight. it wasn't just her obvious beauty that drew him but the fact that they seemed like a perfect match - her freeness balancing his caution.

the only rule he broke ( more like bent ) was the feelings he had for his bride to be leading to them sharing before the wedding, the union resulting in their daughter being born swiftly after their wedding. so taken with both his daughter and his wife, more two children followed before a brief break was taken for more to follow again.

he balances the role of father with the one of lord, ever learning from his father until the death of mychel arryn called rickard south. the childhood anxiety that had ebbed with the flow of years began to rise once more. nothing good happens to a stark in the south is a sentiment he feels deep in his gut and he does his best to continue to lead the north in the absence of his father.

HEADCANONS: -

he didn't enjoy his weapon lessons until his uncle cregan began teaching him. it wasn't anything that his father did wrong, just his uncle found a way to simplify things and make it more fun. after his death he struggled to take it back up but continued to do so in the hope he could be remembered as a great swordsman.

he believes that his word is his bond and he will hold others to theirs also. there have been times where this has been used against him, drunken lapses in judgement being exploited for other's gain ( looking at you calon greyjoy )

as the eldest born daughter to the starks, lynara has taken on the mantle of the eldest sister as if something necessary to her core. one of her earliest memories is following along her mother as the lady tully-stark waddled around the keep, heavy with child, claiming that a little sibling would soon come — that would become poignant for lynara, who would fall to the follower position rather well. good at following and copying, she soon became both her mother’s, their septa’s and the old nan’s little shadow, mimicking their behaviors and words, making herself out to be the one vigilant and caring for her younger siblings, both as the nurturer and the reprimander.

at the age of four, she was betrothed to king matthos’ eldest son. as a four year old, she did not quite understand the intricacy of the arrangement, though she would soon understand the expectation that came with it. she was not only supposed to copy her mother, be a good elder sister, but she was to be a proficient lady of the house for the day she would become a princess — then queen. the weight of that has been domineering on her personality and on her actions: she must be graceful, she must be dutiful, she must be proper and polite; anything short of perfection in her opinion is something she nearly abhors, and fixes to correct as soon as she can.

as luck would have it, lynara is, in some ways, rather fitted to the position she was to one day take. “a lady at three”, is something her mother may have said, for the girl was ever keen on pleasing and charming anyone who came across her. and indeed, that continued throughout her adulthood. tender-hearted and soft-spoken, she has all the makings, humors and leanings of a lady of southern disposition: she enjoys dancing, singing, playing the harp, needlework, poetry and tales of romance. above all, she loves beautiful things, and is invested in making them herself — besides being a good singer, she has become very good at drawings, sketching things and people of her daily life and dreams as well as pieces of clothing, which she enjoys sewing into reality.

tl;dr - duty was always impressed upon her and this coupled with a lack of affection from her parents made her into something of a serious child. she plays the part that is expected of her - the part that is needed to secure her house and kingdom's future - placing the needs of others over herself continuously and consistently. her eldest brother's splintering of their house broke her heart, feeling as though he had left her alone and isolated in a fate she had not chosen. but there has been little time for mourning when her future has been so laid out before her, always demanding her attention.

born to parents who were far more concerned with their own ambitions than their children, rosaline grew up knowing indifference rather than love. she learned to not expect affection nor praise from her parents and instead chose to cling to her siblings. serious nature won out over her more curious one, out of necessity when she quickly learned that while she would always struggle for their attention, their ire was not so difficult to win. she was studious and careful, doing her best to act the part of a daughter that might bring them pride.

when her betrothal to the king's grandchild was announced things began to change for her. finally her parents paid attention to her but she would quickly come to regret ever wishing for it. instead of indifference she was now met with their impossible standards. convinced that her daughter would never learn the skills necessary to play the part of a perfect fiancee and future princess from within the stormlands, rosamund chose to send rosaline to the reach.

it was during her time there that things between her father and brother finally came to a head, having to find out by raven that steffon had turned against durran after their father's continual neglect of their kingdom. she is not blind to the reasons her brother had, too observant to completely miss the signs despite still being young. but despite an understanding of his motives there was a part of her that wondered if it would have been different if she had been there to play mediator.

when she returned to storm's end she found little comfort in its halls, the absence of steffon felt keenly as well as her future looming ahead of her. it is not love for her family that keeps her in the betrothal that has been made for her but rather the knowledge of what could happen were she to ever refuse. her parent's ambition might have backed her into a corner with little escape but it is a responsibility for herself alone to bear. she will not risk the lives of stormlanders when a rejection from her would inevitably lead to a war.

in more recent years as her wedding day drew closer, efforts have been made by her to attempt to reconcile with the people she is supposed to one day rule - knowing that it could be too little too late. but she has not been deterred, reaching out to vassal houses who have not yet declared their support of summerhall and hoping that she can grasp enough of them that her family still have enough support to offer her new in laws.

though the match was not of her choosing she had always been too well aware of what duty would ask from her to concern herself with the notion of a love match. but for all she has tempered her expectations for what her marriage dynamic will be, she is cautious hopeful that her new role might allow her more influence than she has had so far in her life. while her heart sides with her brother she cannot help but hope that she might be able to bring peace between father and son or at least within the stormlands themselves.

archery has long been a source of comfort to her, a skill taught by steffon and one she used to practise to feel closer to him when she was in the reach. it is still something she used to soothe herself but now it is more so from the repetitive, known nature of it that calms her when memories of her brother now simply bring a tightening of her chest along with them.

the anxiety that has always lingered around her quite often lead to sleepless nights when she was younger and it was then that she developed a love for stargazing. she spends some of her time pouring over star maps as well as tracking progress.

while her heart might be most concerned with her own family, rosaline spent the last few years engaging in various forms of charity as she attempted to help the smallfolk that her father was supposed to be responsible for. she had mixed success but it is something she hopes she might be more effective at once she holds the influence of being princess.
