Outbreak of Senseless Killing on the UCSMP
In the young morning hours of Saturday April 23rd, the spark of insanity that sometimes strikes in the middle of the night caught aflame. On the Minecraft Server the Unprepared Casters Survival MultiPlayer (UCSMP) a need for levels led to bloodlust.
Reed, an admittedly new minecraft player, required more levels to have enough to enchant a pickaxe with Fortune III. Abbey, an average player with reckless tendencies, offered to be slain so her levels would transfer to Reed.
Jenny, a rich founder and exemplary minecraft player, and Grace, a fashionable newbie, joined for the first ceremony. They met by the enchanting table on land near Gus, Jenny, Grace, and Reed’s bases. Abbey was on their way.
The ritualistic ceremony begun. Jenny opened the ceremony doing tricks with a trident in the fountain. She would soar into the sky and land in the small patch of water in the fountain or sinch the landing with a water bucket clutch.
Abbey arrived towards the end of the opening act. She took her place in front of the bridge by the fountain without armor, weapons, or a will to live. She knelt and looked up to the sky.
Reed stepped forward and drew their pickaxe. It struck down and the sacrifice fell back, still alive after the bludgeoning from the weak weapon. The slaughter continued until Abbey was up in smoke and the levels were transferred.
This was only the beginning.
Since the first consensual murder went off without a hitch, all parties involved thought it would be fine to go again. As the sacrifice gathered levels at the faraway spider spawner, the group joked over discord communications that Abbey should put up a bit of a fight before the next sacrifice.
Abbey took that very seriously.
She showed up once again towards the end of Jenny’s trident tricks, but this time with a sword in hand.
The ceremonial sacrifice was set to start and it looked as if Abbey saw red. It was crit after crit and she mercilessly hammered her sword down to realize Reeds end.
Reed donned iron armor as quick as they could, but with only the ceremonial pickaxe to parry with, they perished.
There was an uproar of anguish as things did not go to plan.
Reed cried out, “MY LEVELS!”
Abbey was confused.
She thought Reed used the levels to do the enchant already because why wouldn’t they if the two were going to brawl?
Spoiler alert: she was wrong.
From that point forward on that fateful night, all of those online put together a team effort of working together for Reed to gain the levels once again.
Amelia, a mysterious and secretive builder, and Owen, the pit guy, joined in to help. James watched omnipresently through a discord stream.
Many days and nights passed (in game).
During this time, several people at different times nearly drowned after getting stuck in the fountain. The architecture allowed the individuals to make it into the water, but would not let them get out.
(Please note: this gorgeous OSHA violation was made by Jenny.)
The first victim of accidental waterboarding was the sacrifice themselves, Abbey. They tunneled out to spare the architect of the fountain the perils of navigating minecraft water physics.
Grace also succumbed to the fountain and tunneled out.
Also during this time: impromptu chicken murder, smelting, miscellaneous boat shenanigans, fishing, show and tell, and phantom attacks.
During the attacks, Jenny took on the role of protector. (Possibly to level out her reputation after her fountain did so much damage to the community.) In full netherite and with a powerful bow, she launched an attack.
In a series of unfortunate events, Owen died to one of Jenny’s arrows. For more details on that, wait for the results of the upcoming court case that has not happened at time of print.
Over the course of level gathering and sacrifices, Reed did not use any other effective way of getting levels. (With the exception of the aforementioned impromptu chicken murder, which it’s effectiveness is up for debate.)
This cycle continued.
Many more sacrifices came to pass before the levels rose again.
Obtain levels, meet up, consensual murder. On and on and on again.
But, Reeds levels did rise up to 30 again.
As the birds began to sing in the early hours of the morning in the real world, a long night of sorts ended online.
Yes, mistakes were made in these murders. But at the same time, fun was had.
So what we can all learn in the dawn of a new day and the end of a long night is that maybe there aren’t mistakes, only happy accidents. It is all perspective.
" Bean Stalk, sit still a second so I can whack you! Dosh needs money for medicine, he told me so, and the most money falls out of you when I hit you with pay day. So dont move!"
He’s still treating all the busts and bruises earned from last time, but whenever the Boss is faced with a casual opportunity to get the shit beat outta him, is he ever gonna turn it down?
HELL NAH! That’d be like throwing away his own invitation to party!
“So long as there’s some juice left in it for your boy, I’ma take one for my team.” He flips on his shades, takes a breath ‘n poses before Rosie like he’s standin’ on a red carpet.
“Make us millionaires, homie!”
