Falling in love with Lowenwood
writing 1/6/16
this is about the time i spent at an outdoorsy semester school and how we spent winter
winter
it was that feeling of conquering. we were explorers in uncharted land and we set out in our 4+ layers to brave the snow, wind, and freeze. what i loved most was that there was no hesitation, everyone accepted the challenge with smiles and sparkling eyes. though many things can cloud the mind and hijack the emotions, once we breathed in the cold, unforgiving air our heads were clear and we were adventurers. we marched and listened to the creak and crunch of boots on snow and the trees whispering to each other, sprinkling powder onto our wool hats and giggling. and when the forest had sufficiently embraced us, we sat on snow packed ground and sank into the earth.
it was always time to go back right when the sting on the tips of your fingers and the end of your nose had gotten a little too harsh. extracting ourselves from the mound of white, we trudged back to warmth, always more at peace than when we had came. red cheeks and noses but smiles and laughs too, too loud for four walls and a ceiling. we were warriors returned from our journey and we had been victorious.
