Considering hosting, but..
I live in what I guess I could call a triplex. Downstairs neighbor has the biggest part and me and the upstairs neighbor have equally sized places. We all rent of course. Here’s my thing: my upstairs neighbor is moving soon. Rest is pretty cheap, $400 a month! I’m really thinking about renting his out too, getting it nice and set, and throwing it on Airbnb as a host.My main dilemmas? I’ve never hosted. I’ve never even rented a place out to someone. So would I have troubles in getting clients and/or even being seen? Also, how would I go about explaining this and getting a legal “OK” from the people I rent out to? Would that even be necessary? And finally, what are some main things I’m not considering? Like what are some things a lot of people mess up on when first starting to host? Perhaps I could potentially have an upper hand: the OWNER of the triplex comes in every two weeks to pull the quarters out of the washer and dryer and that’s how he pays the water. I’ve never seen him, don’t even know his name. But perhaps I could confidently yet swiftly catch him at the right time and strike up a conversation with him about it. That way I might not have to go through my rental company and could have word straight from the slumlord. Then again, what legal paperwork would be necessary to make sure he doesn’t fuck me and he knows I’m not trying to fuck him?Thank you for reading. Any advice/help is greatly appreciated.
