       dana was SURPRISED, though she didn’t know why. she was a lot of times when melissa so openly expressed affection. maybe it was because dana had inherited the irish catholic trait of ‘hide your heart lest they see you bleed’, melissa was...well, MELISSA. ❝ you don’t have to thank me. ❞ she wrapped her arms around her sister, squeezing her slightly. ❝ you’re my big sister. i’d do anything for you. you know that. at least...I HOPE YOU DO. ❞

“Ann, can I talk to you about something really quickly?” He had been trying to figure things out for his daughter, what she wanted while he went out on particularly longer cases. He had been trying to be a better father, since he got treatment for his depression, but he was struggling just a little to figure everything out properly.

“Diana, you literally moved halfway across the world for a job, with barely a note telling me that you left. You may not have meant to push me away, but you did a damn good job doing it.” He had been hurting when she left, and he couldn’t deny it, he still was. There were plenty of reasons why Mulder had struggled with intimacy with others, and what Diana did was definitely part of it.

“I would never judge you for anything, Ann.” Mulder could not believe that his own daughter would think of him in that way, that he would judge her for anything that was out of her control, or otherwise. She was his daughter and he would do anything to protect her. “Why don’t you sit down and explain everything to me.”

“What do you mean?” Mulder hadn’t been himself lately, at least since Scully left, or since before Scully left if he was honest. He was exhausted and barely left his office some days. He was coming out from his office, his stomach growling. He couldn’t remember when he last ate. He actually didn’t even know that his daughter was going to be there.

“Yeah, two hours after you were supposed to!” Mulder was definitely worried, after having tried to call Ann when she was an hour late. He had been so scared that something happened to her that he couldn’t help her.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to stare." Emily lowered her gaze, stepping back from the red haired woman with a shy smile. "I was told that I would find you again."

“No, It’s alright.” Dana replies, she still can’t believe it’s Emily standing before her, but it is. It really is.
