Connie and Eric's relationship is...complicated.
Been working on my digital painting. I almost can't believe I drew this.
Whumptober Day 6: Unhealthy Coping Mechanisms
This is kind of a cop out. I drew this on stream. But Connie's only coping mechanism is violence and smoking during his 20's. I just wanted to work on his character design and body type.
Whumptober Day 3: "I warned you."
Nate realizes he's actually terrified of Connie and finds himself looking up at him for the first time ever.
Connie actually has a pretty good reason to be mad here. Nate's nickname is "Chatterbox". So when he runs his mouth Connie pays the price and he's pretty sick of it.
Thinking about my OC Connie Maksig at this late hour:
Name after his grandfather Constantine Margolis, often called Connie by close friends and Jack or Jackie to everyone else.
I have his life plotted out in two different endings: one where he dies of a gunshot wound in his early 60s and another where he dies of lung cancer at 82.
He's inspired by Rama from The Raid and Shu Lien from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.
He's a part of the Southern Cartel, a bastardization of the real life gang based in New Jersey simply called "The Family", a predominantly Black and Puerto Rican gang that collapsed in the 90's when RICO charges became a thing.
He's Black and Filipino, the only one of his siblings that speaks fluent Tagalog because he was his mother's primary caretaker.
Physically based on the actor Sammo Hung. So he's of average height but is an absolute rock of a human being weighing about 230 pounds of muscle.
Usually taciturn and stoic, prefers to let his fist do the talking.
Acts as a body guard to mother and later his sister when she gives up her position.
Gay, but struggles deeply with the label as his mother asked that he never tell anyone because it's a "weakness".
To say that he and Eric are a "situationship" would be generous.
A boxer first and foremost but grapples and throws as well. Improvises weapons, but also prefers a good bat.
Originally trained by his father who was a champion boxer himself and often impressed him with his versatility. his father called him a jack-of-all-trades and eventually that turned into "Jacky Trades" which stuck after his father died.
The more I draw Constantine, the more I develop his character, the buffer he gets. His friends call him Connie but everyone else calls him Jack. Only his mom calls him Constantine. This is the first time he's looked exactly the way he looks in my head.
The Maksig Crime Family. lineart needs work but I dig it.
