Communicating with God - Prayer
April 21, 2015
Pray at all times
-1 Thessalonians 5:17 TEV
Spending time talking to God brings forth good things. He gets to know that you are and individual who readily ans willingly makes an effort and surrenders your time to talk to him. An in turn, you get to know Him. You are able to share your secrets, doubts, ask of Him and also just plain and simple making conversation. With prayer you are free to communicate with God in your own words.
First Thessalonians 5:17 says ‘ constantly pray’ (NET). This single verse as small as it may be should be very instrumental in your life and have a big impact. These two words show how much everyone needs prayer as prayer is your power source. Being a child of God brings forth power through prayer.
What I’ve come to realize is that you don’t need to communicate with God using words you hear in church but might not fully comprehend. Prayer is really just communicating with our heavenly Father, like a friend. It’s like talking to your best friend or someone who you are close to.
Prayer also allows God to answer you. He may speak to you through a bible passage or a sermon ot even a conversation with a friend. Prayer is not about trying to impress God that you can say these long glorious everlasting prayers with big words and such. It’s really about just being closer to God and striving to be more like Jesus in thought, word and deed.
So pray without ceasing. Make a friend with God today and strive to be more like Jesus with guidance you receive through prayer.
Friendly Tip: Be the friend that says “ Want me to say a quick prayer?” You don’t have to be all holy and high almighty; you just need to be real. Chances are your friend will be happy you asked.
(P.S I should exercise this tip more often lol, have a good day today)
