Deleted those mopey money posts from last week...
Got my writing job back, gradually resolving the identity fraud by replacing every scrap of my life from my birth certificate to my checking account, and got enormous help with the debt issue. Not going to court. Not becoming homeless. Not filing bankruptcy. Didn’t have to hire a lawyer, but now have legal protections I didn’t even know I had a right to. I will be completely out of debt in a few years (even on a very low, sporadic income), and I won’t go broke getting there. Never thought that I would be debt-free in my lifetime. Was going to have to cancel production on a little film I was supposed to be producing this fall because I thought I’d have to give all the personal financing for the film to my creditors. Nope. I can keep it. Still shooting. Making it all work. And I’ll have the satisfaction of being able to pay back a personal loan that was never really expected to be paid back. It feels nice.
If I have any friends here in the Toronto area who are losing sleep over debt, PLEASE PM ME ASAP, I’ll give you a number to call. No bullshit -- there are smart ways to fix things, and it can happen a lot faster than you’d think. I got my debt cut in half AND had it all consolidated into one very small payment AND stopped the interest completely AND stopped the lawsuit AND got the equivalent of a restraining order against my creditors. And I didn’t pay anything to make this happen. All with poverty-level wages and garbage credit. It’s totally possible. You just have to go to the right person.Â
