So I finished one of my art finals today and I’m super proud of how it turned out. its a 2′ tall sculpture piece made out of 1/4″ acrylic sheets, 3/8″ threaded rod, acrylic tubing, and fake flowers that represent the trans flag. I made it as commentary on trans invisibility in society and as a way to cope with my own internalized issues with being trans.
The figure is supposed to represent an androgynous body made out of layers and vaguely resembling a temple. It was a way for me to represent my own body and remind myself that I decide what it means to be trans to me, that I define my gender identity and no one else can.
I don’t even care if my teacher hates it tomorrow and I get a shit grade, I’m so content with what I have made and relieved that its as stunning as it looks.
