“Far From Here”

Watercolour on paper, started in February.

This piece explores several ideas to do with identity, culture and heritage. The feeling of being far from your culture’s lived experience and gaining a brief understanding in short visits. Immersing yourself in the culture and adopting the identity yet feeling separated from it.

We hold onto our cultures to feel close to those most precious to us, at what point does that transition to identity?
