I have an honest question and it's bothered me for a while. I hear writers complaining a lot about likes to reblog ratios, and I understand that (hits to kudos are rough on AO3). But for me (and I think I'm not alone) I want to support other writers but that doesn't mean I want to have it on my blog (I'm not into imagines, but I'm all for people writing hockey). So is it better I don't like things, and I ignore them if I'm not going to reblog? Does liking for the sake of support not... support?
no! liking for support is amazing and we really REALLY do appreciate the likes. The difference between AO3 and here, though, is the way the algorithm is set up. If people don’t reblog our stuff, it basically never gets seen. On AO3 I can click a tag and find stories from 5 years ago and give them love. That’s really not something that’s possible on this site and that’s where it’s frustrating.
Another really frustrating issue that’s suddenly come into play in hockeyblr, if if you aren’t writing for a specific 3 players, people don’t even notice that you’ve posted anything. It’s like being invisible and without the reblogs and constant circulation, it just gets lost. basically, it comes down to the way the tag search is set up on this site v. AO3 and how people find things. This site unfortunately runs on reblogs.
