Challenge #04402-L018: Zero Ammunition Combat Ready
Why do you have so many primitive weapons? Our stunners and plasma rifles are far more efficient.
"True enough, but your stunners and rifles can break down in the wrong kind of environment. With these spears, and things like this bow, all you need is physics, and knowing which direction the sharp end is going." -- Fighting Fit
Everyone knew that the Humans were a little bit strange. If you asked the right ones, they'd confess proudly to being a lottle bit strange. Those Humans are the ones to watch out for. They're either very fun to be around, very dangerous to stand close to, or both.
Human Zek, one of those Humans, never went anywhere without at least one knife. If combat was anticipated, they carried at least two metal blades. Strong, sharp, and generally superfluous.
Zek's most-used blade was part of the omnitool they were also never without. Technology so ancient that many were surprised that it wasn't made of flint.

Ao3 contingencies
As we all know, Archive of our Own is down, and it's unclear when it'll be back up. Now, of course, we could go back to FF.net or Wattpad after this, but I don't think we want to after the experience we got with Ao3. I, therefore, have an alternative solution: there are several fanfic sites out there that aren't FF.net or Wattpad. Now, these sites are pretty small, so they can easily be molded into whatever we want them to be. We can easily turn them into something that can be just as good as Ao3, if we try hard enough.
Anyway, here are links to the sites in question:
The SquidgeWorld Archive, a project of Squidge.org based on OTW's code for AO3.
Original writing by thousands of aspiring authors. Poetry, short short stories, novels, fiction, nonfiction, screenplays and every other ty
With luck and time, we can make these and other sites into suitable Ao3 alternatives. I recommend we start posting our fics on multiple sites from now on, so that this doesn't happen in the future. Spread the word on Twitter and Threads as well.

Aiden knows how to keep a secret and as the days roll on until Luciâs next appointment, he thinks heâs doing a pretty good job at keeping the baby news to himself. Thereâs the odd time when he zones out thinking of his mental list of things to do in order to prepare like go to the bank and figure out their money situation what they can and canât afford, getting a more family friendly vehicle and overall just holy shit theyâre going to have a baby. But he gets reeled back in with the conversations about the business and about the garage too, normal life continues.Â
Robbie only asks a few times how everything is when no oneâs not around. Aidenâs almost shocked that he hasnât said a word to Kat but when it boils down to it, Robbie can keep a promise under lock and key and cement. So they kind of talk about it, no real updates but Robbie does seem interested in the whole thing.Â
They sit outside at lunch, Robbie smokes and Aidenâs trying not too for Luciâs sake and heâs doing a pretty good job at it. He sips his drink from the take out subs they got from down the street and he eats too.Â
âDo you think youâre going to tell your dad?â Rob asks.
Aiden had been thinking that the other day, so the question itâs shocking to him. âI donât know,â he mumbles and thatâs the truth. Is there a benefit to telling Ray? Or just for the sake of being a decent human, Aiden letting his dad know that hey he might have a granddaughter or grandson? He tends to mull it over for a bit before deciding that itâs too early to figure it out.
Another dayâs problem.

This is not the actual runway Maryse was refer to in Contingencies, but itâs should give you the idea of Alecâs type that flagged her into keeping him away from Magnus.
