How do we apply to become an artist for the zine?
Currently, artist applications are not open— we are in our beginning stages and simply gauging interest in the zine with the Interest Check to make sure that this zine will have the traction it needs to continue on to its next phase. (Please fill it out if you’re interested in applying!)
Our tentative date as of now for the opening of General Applications (Artist, Merch, Writer Applications) will be 7/22. We will be reviewing applications once apps close, and selecting up to 38 contributors for this project. For application guidelines and more information on our schedule, please visit our Carrd!
Can international artists participate?
Absolutely! If timezones are somehow a problem in terms of meeting deadlines, we will definitely be accommodating — you would just have to reach out to a Mod and let us know your situation beforehand. I hope this helps!
Would people be able to apply for multiple roles in the zine (for example submitting samples for zine art and merch at the same time)?
Yes! There will be three separate contributor applications— one for Writers, one for Artists, and the last one for Merch Artists. Feel free to apply to more than one position! However, you will most likely only be accepted into one role.
What type of works should artists submit? What are your expectations?
Anything that you feel represents you best! At least 1 piece should have a finished BG. The zine is STRICTLY SFW, so do not submit NSFW. For more on artist apps, refer to here!
Would is be alright if some of the art in my portfolio has some blood/minor gore?
Some blood/minor gore is perfectly fine, just note that accepted artists will not be permitted to have their pieces any gorier than KNY itself. KNY is already fairly bloody, though, so it shouldn’t be a problem!
If a person were to be selected as an artist, how many drawings will they have to do?
Artists are required to create just one finished piece each!
I’m interested in participating as a cosplayer.
Unfortunately, we will not be looking for any cosplayers for this specific zine. Sorry!
