Earlier I was talking to people about how if people are going to use Giant Weapons/Hitboxes, Giant Apples, Rainbow Cubes, and Green Screen blocks to cheat in Ranked Match Netplay in Soul Calibur VI, I figured it was only fair game for Ivy to use command throw Macros.

Out of sheer curiosity I decided to mess around in Input Mapper and see if it was even possible to make a macro out of Calamity Symphony.

It actually took me a long time to figure out how to set it up, because the coding is based on press and release timings and there is no actual “diagonal input”.

And even after all the testing I did, the Macro only has maybe a 30-40% chance of firing properly because of how fast the inputs have to be made for the Fast-Input version (.0001th of a second per directional delay).  And you have to be in neutral to execute the Macro.

It does 90 damage, 92 damage during Soul Charge, about 10 points more damage than the regular version or even just using Ivy’s Critical Edge which is lots safer.

Not only that but it’s Throw-techable besides. ORZ  You’re better off using Summon Suffering as a macro, lol

It was still fun, and I learned a lot about Macros.  Not that I have any plans using these in netplay (they hardly work in offline matches unless I’m really lucky).

A list of things that are "challenging" to do on D-pad:

---Johnny Negative Edge Stance Cancel combos (I recommend changing the button layout or use stick) ---Zato/Eddie Negative Edge combos (either change the button layout, or use a simultaneous press/release method) ---Millia Rage IAD combos (these can be done on pad, but are tricky to get the muscle memory for). ---Arakune Negative Edge combos  (I use a double tap method or press two buttons at once) ---Carl Clover (same as Zato/Eddie) ---Yuzuriha stance combos (same issue as Johnny, but might be easier because of auto-combos) ---Venom/Leo Whitefang charge inputs (might be easier using a stick, but not impossible for d-pad) ---Potemkin Hammerfall cancels (same issue, but might be easier with a different button layout) ---Tager GETB/KoT 720C / 900D inputs... (they're do-able but take practice, you need to make slow deliberate motions during bufferable moves to pull them off) ---Kokonoe combos (if you're an orthodox pad player they'll take a while to learn because of how her drive moves work) ---Hazama combos (the way his snake works in the air is very sensitive to slight adjustments in inputs, so using pad will take a while to adjust, still doable however) ---Ivy (Soul Calibur) Calamity Symphony commands... they can be done, but you have to buffer them carefully and be well-adjusted to the timing... I don't think perfect fastest execution is possible on d-pad though. ---Alpha Patrokolos/Setsuka (Soul Calibur) "Sakura Twister" inputs... these gave me heck, but they can be done if you're used to rolling your thumb across the pad and buttons in short order.  Combos might be tricky though.  I recommend a few videos on the subject.

Also, just to note: not everything is easier on Stick, some stuff is very easy on D-Pad, like DP inputs (Vapor Thrust), Tiger knee inputs (TK Youzansen for example), and moves like Hakumen’s Jump Cancel Zantetsu combos in BBTag or backdash Hotaru (44421+B) in other BB games.

For the record, I can do Pretzel inputs on pad easily, especially Geese Howard’s Raging Storm among others.

Some players prefer Analog stick to an Arcade stick as well, so it depends on how far you’re willing to adjust.

People don’t believe me sometimes when I say I use d-pad for complex inputs.

I’ve been using a d-pad since Sega Genesis and Nintendo days, and if this isn’t the proof of my hard efforts, then nothing is!
