The problem with the
“The Perfect Body Campaign “

The Perfect body Campaign mainly focused was on their
new “body bra”. The bra was designed to supposedly fit the
body type of everyone. On these advertisements used for the
campaign, they feature several tall skinny and mostly white
models wearing the new lingerie . The words “the perfect
body” overtop of it.
The ad was marketing to woman who have “the perfect
body“. The ad slogan is “the perfect body”, however the
advertisement only had tall skinny (so slim in fact, that you
can see their ribcage white women on it. With long
straight and loose curlers. When further exaltation of
these lady’s there is no bruises , freckles , and birth marks.
Just perfectly psoralen skin. All the models legs are
smooth with no sight of stretch marks. Every single one of
them have a thigh gap.
With that slogan and that picture would cause a lot of
woman to think the are not pretty due to them not having
the perceived perfect body type. This ad will cause girls all
around the world that see it, who are not tall and skinny,
anxiety and depression and lower self esteem.
Every woman wears underwear and bras. Not just tall ,
skinny, bigger chested woman. People who have birthm In this
day of age in 2022 we starve for body positively. If brands do
not up hold this than
they are missing out on a lot more costumers because people
will turn to brands that support EVERYONE.
In the end Victoria Secret got so much backlash they
changed the slogan from the “the perfect body type “ to “A
Body For Every body.” The company got praise for this change. I
was disappointed to see even though the slogan changed, their
ad still only has thin and mainly WHITE skinned woman. Which
was the main problem because I was taught actions are louder
than words.
