Great for a woodland garden or shady border is Convallaria majalis var. rosea (rosy lily of the valley). This spreading perennial with rhizomes has very fragrant, bell-shaped, pale pink flowers on arching stems just above the foliage.

Convallaria under a fluorescence microscope.
Lily of the Valley berries ripening in my garden. Ingestion of any part of this poisonous plant results in stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, headache, irregular heartbeat, and death.
Lily of the valley contains 38 cardiac glycosides that effect the heart and toxic azetidine-2-carboxylic acid which tries to make your corporeal form fall apart at a molecular level.
