#converting when far from synagogue

how can I convert if the closest synagogue is 500 km away? would conversion - up to some extent - be possible if I contacted a rabbi and it happened by distance? for: any

Mod here. I think specifying FORs, particularly those that are experience-based (e.g. conversion student, moved to convert, Jewish & live somewhere with a low-density of other Jews) might be helpful for anon in piecing together answers and advice.
