Filmora 9: The Godfather 1901-1980 VHS - DVD Convert
f you have read my previous post you will know what the 1901-1980 Godfather box-set is.
Lucky for me my father got given one of these when he was young and kept it ever since, he maintains it and cleans the tapes once ever two months.
I used a 'Toshiba' all in one VHS and DVD player to convert the Godfather tapes to DVD. It took the length of the film to convert as it has to record from the tape. Then I had to Rip the raw footage from the converted disc to my computer to finalize my work. I pretty much had to do the whole process again but instead of VHS to DVD it was DVD to MP4. I used 'Wondershare UniConverter', which took a little longer, around two hours each disc. I then used my editing skills to cut out any adverts which were on the tape and added custom Intros and Outros for these disc using 'Filmora 9'. It took around one hour and a half to export the footage with intros and outride combined for each disc. I also used parts of the Godfather Theme for the intros and outros which was a nice touch.
I then made a Main Menu using a program called 'ConvertX to DVD' which was recommended by a family friend. Once I got a hold of this program I was able to create a nice and suitable Main Menu for the film
I did in fact keep the number of disc the same as the number of VHS as I wanted to keep it as close as the original viewing as possible.
Lastly I had to then Burn the video onto my discs which took roughly about two and a half hours for each disc. And there were five discs and I did four copies of this trilogy.
