     ‘Good, you’re here.’      Does he look flustered?      He shuts the apartment door with the heel of his boot. Their tiny, crappy apartment, with its porch and kitchenette and little bathroom, the bare minimum of furniture that they live on and in. He looks at Eddie. There’s something uneasy about him. ‘Sit down.’

     He catches Eddie as he walks past Roland’s sitting-place, fingers on the back of his knee. ‘I need to tell you something. I’d have you listen well.’

     This one’s Fumalo, who was called Badmouth by Susannah – and he’s flanked by Feemalo and Fimalo – who happens to the the id of the three, which makes his mouth looser and ruder than his not-brothers. ‘How is sai Deschain? Warm in the bedroom?’

     ‘Maika – ?’ It’s time for that conversation they were supposed to have. Roland’s gun is on his left hip rather than in the small of his back, today. He glances back at Eddie. He’ll let him do most of the talking. It’s Eddie who has a way with words that won’t get them lost.
