Liz was still numb from the shock of the night before. She couldn’t believe her best friend was dead. Ava was asleep upstairs, somehow sound asleep. The brunette was currently scrubbing dishes, needing the distraction to keep her mind off what was happening. Otherwise she would go to pieces. “What time did the lawyer say he was going to be here?” she asked Emmett, glancing at the clock on the wall. Time seemed to be crawling right now. Just then, the doorbell rang. “Its about time” she mumbled under her breath, her patience being tested by the horrible events of the night before. Yanking off the yellow gloves she was wearing, she set them next to the sink and made her way down the hall to answer the front door, her high heels clicking on the wood floor. “I wonder why we both had to be here” she said to the other woman as she walked. Surely she was able to handle whatever the lawyer had to discuss with them by herself.
