Having company over was odd. Outsiders weren’t the most welcome people. However, he had enjoyed speaking to her and perhaps she would understand what he was trying to do with his work. He waited for her outside of the hospital then, as he saw her leave, walked over. “Did your day go well?” Small talk was normal, right? Much as he hated to admit it, this was an area of social nicety he simply wasn’t accustomed to.
