Alfred had met with Master Dick since his hospitalisation, he’d made certain the boy knew that he held him no ill will nor disappointment for who he chose to share his life with (though he felt some at the thought of Dick pushing him away because of it). But, Master Dick was only half the issue in this case; Alfred still needed to meet with Master Slade, it only felt right.
So, during a time when he’d known Master Dick was not at home he’d come with another batch of food and knocked politely on the door. Alfred had his own way of sizing up a man and he (unlike Master Bruce) felt no need for grand posturing. He would meet and speak with the man and make his own decision.
The door opened and he spoke, “Master Slade I take it?” he asked politely, “I am Alfred Thaddeus Crane Pennyworth, Retainer to the Wayne Family. I have brought some home cooked meals for Master Dick since, as I suspect we are both well aware, the boy could burn water.”
