it’s been about a week since the cheating scandal, and frankly, javin had been enjoying the time he was spending with jacques. he was so lucky to have a best friend who let him stay over for so long, even if a week didn’t seem long. in his eyes, it did-- he felt as though he was being a burden the majority of the time and he promised jacques he’d leave tomorrow. however, today being his last day of staying at his place, he wanted to make the best of it. javin popped into jacques’ room early that morning with a tray of breakfast-- wanting to surprise his best friend with breakfast in bed. it was a thank for all his time and all the things he’s done in the past week and javin had declared today to be national jacques-appreciation day. 

thankfully, jacques was still asleep when javin went into the room and he resembled a child on christmas, waiting excitedly for their parents to wake up. at least jac hadn’t known what he was up to. placing the tray on the bed, javin tapped his best friend’s shoulder. “jac, wake up. i have a surprise for you.” javin whispered excitedly, smiling wide. he knew jacques wasn’t much of a morning person but he hoped he could forgive him for being so chipper in the mornings. “hi! hi sleepy-head. good morning-- i made you breakfast and there’s a brewing cup of coffee with your name on it in the kitchen. i’ll get right on that. but first, um...here.” he held the tray out to the other shyly, eyes glancing down sheepishly at the floor as he blushed. “did...did i go overboard?”

javin had been hanging out more and more with jacques since the two have made up and he had to admit, he really missed the other. he had finally told the other that his wife was pregnant but now something else was going on. when he came home that night, the house was quiet. too quiet. stepping into the apartment, when he was headed to bed to see his wife he was shocked to discover someone else in bed with her. he was horrified, and--- well, an absolute mess. there was yelling and tears; javin yelling at the stranger to leave their home and his wife trying to calm him down. normally, he’d never snap like that but something inside him had changed that night. instead of staying at home that night, he stormed out of their shared home and got in the car driving to the one place he knew he could always run to; jacques’ place. the male had nowhere else to stay, and it’s not like he really wanted to be around his wife at the moment. so here he was, at jacques’ door knocking until the other opened. swollen and puffy eyes from tears that he’d normally never let jacques see, he rubbed once again at the dry tears that stained his cheeks as his best friend finally opened the door. “i’m-- i’m sorry, jacques but can i-i stay here for the night?”

the morning after javin had returned home, he had been practically beaming from his long week of vacation from the honeymoon. he was way too tired to visit his best friend the same night, so he decided the next day he’d storm on over to his place and talk his ear off about every last detail of it. so that’s exactly what he did. him and his nerdy self hopped on all the way to jacques’s place, knocking on the door quite loudly. “knock, knock. guess who?” javin sang, starting a short-lived beat on the door with his fists. he kept the beat going until jacques finally opened the door. “surprise! did you miss me? i know the answer is yes but i want to hear you say it anyway.”
