a quiet evening [rafael]
Aaron woke up that morning at his usual just-before-noon, yawning and stretching. He found a sleep mask which was definitely helpful to guard against the harsh sunlight coming into his bedroom, pouring through sheer curtains and disrupting his sleeping in. Just like every other morning, he shuffled out of his room to see if Aimee was “busy.” But something was off.
The whole house was empty, all of Aimee’s things gone--including the alcohol. Scheiss.
So that got Aaron thinking--nobody had come to kick him out of the villa, yet, and he’d been mulling over the conversation he had with Mina about Rafael... and now he had a whole villa at his disposal. No reason to waste such an opportunity. So Aaron set out to find Rafael (catching him near the canteen), inviting him back to the villa later that evening for “a surprise.”
It took some doing, some begging and bartering, and a few consultations, but Aaron managed to find a bottle of wine (a vintage malbec) and enough ingredients to prepare a simple meal of grilled chicken and vegetables. Although cooking wasn’t something he did often, Aaron still knew the basics, even if it took him entirely too long to cut up tomatoes, onions, and cilantro to make pico de gallo.
The time Aaron told Rafael to come by rolled around, and as Aaron nervously poured two glasses of wine (taking great pains to make the glasses perfectly even), there was a knock on the door. Aaron swore under his breath and hurriedly smoothed down his shirt, ran his hand over his hair, and checked his breath before hurrying to the front door. “Hallo!” he said to Rafael, kissing his cheek in greeting before quickly ushering him inside. Aaron cleared his throat and calmed his excitement a bit as he led Rafael into the kitchen. “I’m the proud new owner of this villa. So I thought I’d make us dinner and have a relaxing evening since... everything has been very chaotic here lately.”
